Frequently Asked Questions

Long associated with any kind of senior community, the term “nursing home” is antiquated now as more seniors seek care and more individualized care has become the expectation. A nursing home or what is now referred to as a “skilled nursing” community requires a higher level of care services, such as around-the-clock monitoring, expanded rehabilitation and therapy offerings, and in some cases, palliative care and hospice.

Assisted living, primarily, assists with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, and grooming, in addition to medication management. Assisted living residents receive daily activity programming and dining services.

Specialized memory care, either as a stand-alone community or as a separate and secure area within an assisted living community, has become an important option for families of someone with Alzheimer’s or another type of dementia. Research in the field of memory impairment has come a long way, and memory care communities of today should be active and lively as we work within the framework of each resident’s condition.

Our communities offer pricing in two ways, depending on the community. One option is a level-of-care structure that includes monthly rent and then a separate fee for the level of care needed by the resident. Determining each resident’s level of care depends on an assessment completed by the community’s Director of Nursing.

Another option is an “all-inclusive” pricing structure, meaning the rent and care services are combined, and no increase in level-of-care fee is required when the resident’s needs change. Call the community nearest you to learn more about pricing.

Affording senior living really depends on your situation. There are federal and state programs for which you may qualify that can pay benefits to your monthly rent or to your level of care at one of our communities. In addition, wartime veterans and their spouses can benefit from Veterans Aid and Attendance benefits.

Sometimes, really narrowing in on yours or your loved one’s expenses can provide insight into how much is being spent and how much it would cost to bring in care from a third-party provider. How much are they spending on food, utilities, home health services, and even the cost of a loved one to miss work to take them to doctor appointments? Visit our Financing Care page for more information or contact the community nearest you for assistance with understanding what you can afford.

We use a resident life story to understand your habits, joys, and preferences before you even move in. From your favorite tea to your lifelong passions, we build your day around you. We know that life isn’t a one-size-fits-all, so senior living should reflect that mosaic of experiences, too!

Enjoy chef-prepared, restaurant-style meals that celebrate local flavors. We offer flexible dining options, private dining rooms for celebrations, and resident kitchens for those who love to bake.

We encourage family engagement through social gatherings, educational workshops, and regular communication. You are always a vital part of your loved one’s community life.
